Hola, fellow bloggers!  Welcome back!  We're sharing a new challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps and I think you're going to REALLY like this one!  Our hostess this week is Sheri and she is challenging us to EMBELLISH IT!  Yep, pile 'em on!  Flowers, trims, bling, accents...whatever your crafty little heart desires!  

For my card, I used Wicked Witch.  I've had her a for awhile, but this was the first time she's seen ink. I stacked the embellies high to meet Sheri's requirement.  I've been coloring a lot of witches lately and for some reason or another, I've been making their outfits white.  Are they good witches?  Are they looking for an outfit that will reflect heat on a warm Summer's day?  Or perhaps they're trying to wear as much white as they can before the Labor Day holiday.  Don'tcha love a witch who stays on top of the fashion DOs and DON'Ts?  I know I do!  Actually, the answer is none of the above.  Here's the truth of the matter...when I am in a rush and have very little time to spare, I resort to white.  It's quick and it's easy.  It's my Copic Cheat...LOL!  I like the high contrast of C5, C3. C1 C00, and the blender.  Though these colors seem dark, but they create beautiful shadows and result in a bright white finish when used sparingly.  Keep them in mind next time you need to create the illusion of white.

Witchypoo

Yikes!  I've been trying to write this blog post ALL night, but I'm glancing at the clock in the corner of my Sweet Baby Macbook (I say this because she is a petite thing at only 15 inches) and I see that it is now 2:30am.  WHAH??!!!  How did this happen?

I've noticed as I get older that my attention span is waning.  When I was younger, my thoughts would drift and wander off.  Instead of focusing on the teacher at the head of the class, or the customer across the counter, I would tune out and start to entertain, in my head, my plans for the weekend...the movie I wanted see...the new shirt I wanted to buy...the book I wanted to read, etc.  All while smiling and nodding approval at the person in front of me.  Who knows what I was mindlessly agreeing to.

Now that I'm older, I still do this, but instead, I have taken "tuning out" one step further.  Now I just nod off.  Yep... I.  Fall. Asleep.  I don't usually fall asleep in the middle of a conversation (not yet, anyway), but if I sit down on the couch to watch a movie or get some stuff done on my Sweet Baby Mac, Mr. Sandman will stop by and sprinkle some of his Sweet Elixir of Snooze on me and I'm out.  It's not a pretty sight, either.  My head lolls to one side, my eyes do that weird half open/half closed thing, and sometimes I start to drool.  I know this because my sweet husband has been kind enough to occasionally take a pic of this process.  

I don't know about you, but I find the advent of the camera phone to be a blessing and a curse.  And, come on...12 megapixels?!! NOBODY needs to see me in this state in 12 MEGAPIXELS!!!  The other day, I saw a commercial advertising a camera phone with 41 megapixels.  That is ridiculous!  Pics are eventually going to become so sharp that we will need to cross our eyes to focus on them.  Oh, how I long for the Polaroid days when everyone was so blurry we always looked pretty good in a photos.  Instead, we now have the technology to capture an action shot of a drop of drool running down my chin with my mouth agape in mid-snore. Oh, joy.  

Long story short...I fell asleep typing this post.  I have essentially had a 4 hour nap and will undoubtedly have a hard time falling asleep when I finally crawl into bed.  More perks of getting older.  Tomorrow, I will be grumpy, so I'm apologizing in advance to anyone I may happen to encounter.  Just like the 4 year old who launches into a full blown, throw yourself down on the ground, arms flailing about temper tantrum.  I'm seeing one these in my near future, so approach with caution.  

By the way...I have a card to share.

I Used to be Funny...oh yeah, and I made a card.

Hello Bloggers!

Welcome back.  I don't have a new card this week, but I did run across a card that I made a few weeks back and forgot to post.  How fortunate!  This is a cutie patootie penned by Mo Manning for Penny Black Stamps and it is part of a clear set called "Ahoy".  I made this card as a store sample for The Hen House Paperie.  We still have a few of these sets available if you want to pop in and pick one up.  There are just not enough cute boy images out there, but this one definitely fits the bill.

Okay, that was the card portion of my post, now onto the deeper more thought-provoking part.  Actually, there is no "deeper", "thought-provoking part", just my cheesy attempt to reel you in and force you to listen to my tale of woe.  Are you ready?

During the life span of my blog, I have written over 600 posts.  WOW!  Sounds like a lot, doesn't it?  Now, I know there are other bloggers out there who can easily boast twice, triple or even quadruple times that number in posts, but they are obviously overachievers and have not received an invitation to my pity party.  Tonight as I scrolled back through some of my older ramblings, I came to a jarring realization...I have lost it.  No, not my mind, but rather my "funny".  Don't get me wrong, I was never hilariously funny like Steve Martin or David Sedaris, but I occasionally managed to jot down a few choice words in a particular order that might elicit a small chuckle if the timing was right and the moon was full.  Not anymore.  Heck, I don't even try.  

When I posted a card, I used to interject random musings and share some of the more absurd moments of my life.  Now I don't bother.  I cut and paste a prefab post onto the screen outlining the details of my project and call it a day.  If I do bother to summon up the brain power to add my own personal touch, it resembles a crafty caveman's incoherent ramblings..."me color Copic, me cut cut, me make card...bye-bye".

Here's how I know I've lost it...even my mother doesn't read my posts anymore.  Yep.  It's true.  I can tell by the comments she leaves, she already knows that I'm not adding anything original, so she basically does what every good mother is expected to do and gently pats me on the head and says "that's nice dear".   Isn't she bound by some sort of Maternal DNA Contract to slog through my posts even if she knows they're the same every time?  Watch...I'll conduct an experiment to prove she's not reading them.  I'll post a silly, nonsensical statement about her that would normally get her attention and then we'll see if she acknowledges it in the comment she leaves.  Hmmm, what should it be....?  How about...my mother used to be the Queen of France, but her royal obligations cut into her crafty time, so she gave it all up to spend more time with her buddies Tim Holtz, Wendy Vecchi, and Penny Black.  Heehee!  Let's see what happens ;D

What exactly does all this mean?  It means I have been a bad blogger, at times even boring myself.  Let's face it, MOST times even boring myself! It means I need to find my "funny" much like a golfer needs to find his swing or a crafty diva needs to find her mojo.  It means that right now, I suck, and I must learn to suck less.  That's a pretty lofty goal, but I'm gonna try before I fully lose the ability to form complete sentences  or correctly spell words consisting of more than 3 letters.  Wish me luk!  Darn it!  It's already happening ;)

A New Challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps: Slippery When Wet!

Hey, lovely people of Bloglandia!  How are things at your end of the keyboard?  Here in sunny Albuquerque NM we're feeling a bit soggy.  Lots of rain these days, particularly in the evenings when my sweet husband is trying to grill.  Lord knows, we need it, but when it interferes with dinner...well, I get a bit grumpy, to put it mildly.  Plus, this sounds crazy, but it is wreaking havoc on the landscaping.  Most of the yards in our neighborhood sport nice tidy rocked in landscapes, because after all, it is the desert and H2O is at a premium.  Best to conserve water whenever we can.  However, the rain has spawned a wicked population of weeds to pop up and create these intrusive micro mini jungles that weed killer doesn't seem to even remotely phase.  Must be some sort of mutant alien weed breed.  Long story short, Albuquerque is practically underwater.  WHICH is the perfect segue into this week's challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps...Slippery When Wet!
