More Kenny K!

Hello! I was waiting to post this card until Tuesday, but my impatience got the better of me and I decided to post it today and maybe make another card for Tuesday. Let's see if that actually happens...!

This is another image by Kenny K. Meet Rock Chick! I really wanted to go "edgy", but when I started coloring her up, I guess I was in the mood for something "sweet", because that's how she ended up. You know how that goes, you set out in one direction and end up with something completely different, but that's okay. It all seems to work out in the end...most times. I'm really enjoying these images and now the All Starz sports themed images have been added to the shop and my head is spinning! I'm like a kid in a candy store and I don't know where to turn next. Such a fabulous "problem" to have...lol!

I want to thank everyone for leaving comments and suggestions regarding my smearing issue with the digis. It's not a huge issue, but I thought why not see if this can be a little cleaner. Several of you indicated that heat setting the image will nip that little problem in the bud and so this is where I have to make a confession. When I was researching solutions to this problem, I ended up in a Splitcoast Stampers forum on a thread that discussed this very issue. Most of the recommendations were to use a workable fixative to set the image or to heat set it with a heat gun. It sounds like the latter would be the easier fix, right? Well, that's not how my brain works (when it works at all). You see, every time I take pictures of my cards, which is most days, I crawl under my desk and unplug my OttLite and drag my photo paraphernalia into the dining room. It's no big deal...takes 5 minutes. When I read that heat setting digis was an option, that meant I would have to crawl under my desk and plug my heat gun in. I know, it should be plugged in at all times, but on this day it wasn't. I had already been under there twice that morning, once to unplug my lamp and again to plug it back in. I had no desire to get back down there a third time. Yep, that's right, I opted to use the fixative out of sheer laziness...lol!

So, here's what my laziness got me. I had to grab a basket off the top shelf of a rack that I keep supplies stored in, rummage around to find the can of fixative, cart the can and a stack of printed digis out to the backyard, spray them, let them dry, keep them from blowing away 'cuz it was a bit breezy, haul everything back inside, put the can away, and put the basket back on the top shelf. What's that? Sounds like more effort than plugging in the heat gun? You are right! All this effort to find that it didn't work all the great. Hmmph! Being lazy is exhausting...lol! So, guess what I did yesterday for this card? I crawled under my desk, plugged in the heat gun, and it worked perfectly. Who knew? Apparently most of you did! Thanks again for the advice, everyone ;D I hope your 4th of July holiday is spectacular!

Oh, before you go, don't forget to swing by tomorrow, because I will be featuring more of my mom's fabulous cards for "Mom's"day Monday :)

  2. Hi Cheryl, love, love your coloring and your cards. Too precious. I just found Kenny K's cards and definitely great for a teenager, and I have one of those. It's ironic, but I think you were reading about me asking how to not have digi images smear. Well, I found a paper at Clear dollar stamps that is a watercolor paper that doesn't smear. The owner, Lori sent me some of the paper, and it is awesome. I can use distress inks to color again. Haven't done it lately, but it works. Also, Gina K's paper also works for digital images and I get no smears at all with Copics. Couture cardstock is also good, but not the best.

    Hope this helps.
    Hugs, Sheila
